Golu is full swing here in Srirangam. I am visiting at least two house everyday to get thamboolam and they insist me to sing a song and I sing with abaswaram. Meanwhile, Bingo is mastered the art of doing namaskaram on request and getting her share of vethala paaku. We carry a bag and it’s Bingo’s duty to collect whatever we get at host’s place and bring home. As on today we have collected:
4 comb
4 mirror
6 small dabbas of turmeric and kumkum
3 kuber (!!) Diya
1 show piece
and
at least a dozen banana
1/4 kilo sundal
dozens of vethala paaku
It’s quiet enjoyable to visit different golus and listening to their stories of how they celebrate at their amma / in-laws place, how some dolls are centuries older etc.
As i always say, festivals are fun and enjoyment.
